Issues

The RMI works toward the common goal of understanding and contributing to the mitigation of salient social and environmental impacts of extraction and processing of minerals. Our programs are designed to align with internationally recognized frameworks such as the OECD Due Diligence Guidance and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

OECD Annex II

With its specific applicability to mineral supply chains, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance is a guidepost for the RMI’s tools and programs. The OECD Guidance specifically focuses on risks related to armed conflict such as serious human rights abuses, armed groups, public and private security forces, and bribery and money laundering. Read about the OECD Annex II risks.
